EDUCATOR
Yulia Berry is a dedicated and experienced teacher who has worked with students of all ages and skill levels. She is widely respected for her expertise in flute pedagogy and for teaching methods that emphasize strong technical foundations, musical understanding, expressive artistry, and long-term development. Her work is guided by a deep commitment to helping each student reach their full potential as a flutist and musician.
In addition to her teaching, Yulia Berry has written articles and given presentations on flute technique, practice strategies, and performance interpretation. She has also explored the flute’s connection to art and its role within the musical and cultural traditions of different historical periods and regions.
Teaching
Yulia Berry is the Founder and Artistic Director of the New England Flute Institute, which offers a wide range of educational programs and resources for flutists of all levels. She also directs Yulia Berry’s Flute Studio, a private music studio providing individualized flute instruction to students of all ages and stages of development.


Students
Her students have earned awards at numerous music competitions and secured placements in leading ensembles and programs, including the New England Conservatory’s Massachusetts Youth Wind Ensemble and Baroque Ensemble, the Boston Youth Symphony Orchestra (BYSO), Junior and Senior District Festivals, the All-State Festival, S.E.M.S.B.A. Festivals, and ensembles and orchestras at the Longy School of Music.

Yulia Berry regularly conducts masterclasses in flute technique, breathing, and ensemble performance in the United States and Russia.













Educational Initiatives
Ms. Berry is the founder of several additional flute education initiatives, including The Babel Flute, The Babel Flute Courses, and Web Flute Academy. These projects have since been concluded, having laid important groundwork for her later educational and publishing platforms.



Competitions
Young Virtuoso
Yulia Berry served as Co-Founder and Sponsor of the Annual Open Flute Competition Young Virtuoso, held in Saint Petersburg, Russia, from 2012 to 2021, with the support of the Foundation of Maestro Yuri Temirkanov.




In 2016, Yulia Berry served as a guest judge at the V Anniversary Competition.


My Favorite Flute
In 2018 and 2019 Yulia Berry was in the jury of the International Internet competition My Favorite Flute.


International Flute Concerto Competition Eugene Magalif
Yulia Berry was the author of an innovative idea, co-organizer and one of the jury members of the “International Flute Concerto Competition Eugene Magalif 2018“. The competition attracted huge attention on social media, with a total of over 150,000 views and 18 finalists from 10 countries.
For the first time among online competitions, the final live voting was public and was conducted in the All about Flute Mobile application, created by Yulia Berry. It collected many thousands of votes from all over the world and was and widely reported on social networks.

Education
Yulia Berry has earned a Doctor of Music Arts (DMA) degree focused in Flute Performance, Pedagogy and Music Education from the Saint Petersburg State Conservatory named after N.A. Rimsky-Korsakov (Russia). She has also earned a Master of Music degree (M.M.) with majors in Flute Performance, Pedagogy and Band Conducting, with Honors (Cum Laude) from The Saint-Petersburg State Music College named after M.P. Mussorgsky in Russia. Prior that, she graduated from the Mravinsky State Music School.
